Monmouth Legacy Fund Grants

Families who contribute to or establish Legacy Funds can specify an issue, cause or hometown that they would like to have their charitable legacy impact. The Community Foundation can then respond quickly to ever-changing community needs through grants designed around the spirit of the donor’s wishes.

• Asbury Park Concert Band – This professional 16–25 piece concert band performs concerts in the summer on the boardwalk every Monday evening in Belmar and every Thursday evening in Asbury Park. The band has been active for over 65 years in providing family entertainment as well as educating and mentoring music students from the area. The students perform in the second half of some of the concerts and receive the benefit of being mentored by professional musicians. Funding was made possible by the Cultural Arts Fund and the Irene A. Van Deusen Fund.
• The Boys and Girls Clubs of Monmouth County – The Clubs have provided services for more than 70 years to help disadvantaged young people in the area develop into responsible citizens and leaders. Support was given for the Passport to Manhood program in Asbury Park and Red Bank that addresses several key areas of development while stressing and promoting positive values, healthy and active lifestyles, and responsible behavior in boys ages 11–14. Funding was made possible by the Jane Engelhard Fund.
• Collier Youth Services – The mission of this group is to provide at-risk youth with a chance to grow towards their potential in a positive environment through programs that promote dignity, hope and belonging. Support was given for the arts program at Kateri Day Camp, an 8-week summer program for Monmouth County children ages 5–13. The structured curriculum includes arts and crafts, dance and drama and provides opportunities for the youth to share talents and skills. Funding was made possible by the Rose Anthony Howard Fund, the Carol & William Gardem Fund and the Irene A. Van Deusen Fund.
