Newark Community Foundation
Our Purpose
Why the Newark Community Foundation? Most community-focused cities across America have their very own Community Foundation. And for very good reason. Citizens concerned with the specific needs of a community can ensure that real, solid, particular change is enacted. For whom and where it matters most.
From a Community Foundation that overhauled Kansas City's public schools, to a program targeted at fighting high pre-term birth rates in New Haven, to innovative ways that Minneapolis fought youth violence. Donors now have the opportunity to support projects with equal impact for Newark.
Imagine what can be done in Newark when considering the following 2005 benchmarks of grants to nonprofits:
- The Cleveland Foundation granted $66.9 million
- The Boston Foundation granted $64.2 million
- The Foundation for the Carolinas granted $59.5 million
