Creating Lasting Impact

Our Current Projects

New Jersey AIDS Partnership

The New Jersey AIDS Partnership is the collaborative effort of private and corporate foundation leaders, public health officials, service providers, people living with HIV/AIDS and other community leaders who believe that HIV/AIDS is fought most effectively at the community level. While there are many charitable giving foundations and organizations, the New Jersey AIDS Partnership is unique. The Partnership is the only charitable giving fund in New Jersey that is solely committed to ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

Our mission is to seek and support excellence in three strategic areas:

  1. The leveraging of funds and resources in support of effective interventions;
  2. The development of community leadership and advocacy; and
  3. The fostering of community innovation.
Governance

A core strength of the Partnership lies in our Steering Committee. This group of knowledgeable and committed individuals provides expertise and insight into the problem within New Jersey. The Committee determines the operating policies of the Partnership and the funding priorities for each year, assists in reviewing grant requests, makes site visits to potential grantees, and decides which programs will be funded by the Partnership each year.

Two Co-convening Organizations, the Hyacinth AIDS Foundation and the Community Foundation of New Jersey, manage the Partnership. We operate as a designated fund of the Community Foundation and share their 501(c)(3) number. Hyacinth provides office space, legal and financial oversight.

One part-time employee, the project Director, staffs the Partnership. The responsibilities of the Director include: serve as project officer to all grantees; execute the request for proposals; fundraising and grant writing; coordination of the Steering Committee, including grant proposal review and awards; and she provides technical assistance and capacity building to grantees.
