In response to the devastating 7.0-magnitude earthquake in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, we have listed seven highly rated charities that have established an effective presence in Haiti and need immediate donations to help respond to this disaster.
- St. Damien’s Hospital — www.thepassionists.org — Thousands of children who were injured in the earthquake are being treated at St. Damien’s Hospital, the only free pediatric hospital in Haiti. Read more »
- CARE — www.care.org — CARE’s office in Port-au-Prince will focus on distributing food, hygiene kits, and water, and will also deliver emergency health services.
- Doctors Without Borders — www.doctorswithoutborders.org — is setting up emergency medical clinics in the area.
- Medical Assistance Programs (MAP) International — www.map.org — is providing emergency supplies to its medical teams in Haiti who are already treating the injured.
- Partners in Health (PIH) — www.pih.org — is providing medical supplies and medicine through its office in Port-au-Prince.
- Save the Children — www.savethechildren.org — is providing immediate life-saving assistance such as food, water and shelter through its office in Port-au-Prince.
- World Vision — www.worldvision.org — is distributing food, clean water, blankets, and tents more from its Port-au-Prince office.
