CFNJ is continuing to gather information about the best ways to assist New Jersey residents who have suffered due to Hurricane Irene.
1) Bergen County – The United Way of Bergen County (www.bergenunitedway.org) has an existing Compassion Fund that is being used to assist people in need when there is no insurance and/or there are gaps in FEMA assistance.
2) Passaic County – Paterson – The NJ Community Development Corp. (www.njcdc.org) and Eva’s Village (www.evasvillage.org) are reaching out to those who need food, emergency shelter, clothes, school supplies, personal items, clean-up supplies, etc.
3) Somerset County – Somerville – SHIP (Samaritan Homeless Interim Program) (www.ship908.com) was damaged by flooding and needs funding to replace food, appliances, medical supplies, clothing, hygiene kits and other items that are distributed to local residents affected by the storm.
4) Northern NJ – Community FoodBank of New Jersey (www.njfoodbank.org) is distributing food, clothing and clean-up supplies.
5) Northern NJ – Table to Table (www.tabletotable.org) is distributing truckloads of food, supplies and basic necessities to social agencies in Newark, Paterson and Bergen County.
