America's Grow a Row

America’s Grow-a-Row (AGAR) is an organization based in Hunterdon County that grows and gleans fresh, healthy produce that is then donated to food pantries, soup kitchens, crisis centers, and food banks all over the state of New Jersey. Children and families plant seeds and seedlings in an “adopt an acre” garden, excess produce is gleaned from local farms, and “not quite retail perfect” produce is rescued from local Shop-Rite stores. In 2009, 317,000 pounds of fresh produce was donated to people in need.
