As a nonprofit educational organization Project U.S.E. provides acclaimed experiential learning opportunities to more than 7,000 young people and adults each year. Specializing in the out-of-the-ordinary, the tools and tactics support academic learning and promote self-respect, strong character and social and environmental consciousness. The Boatbuilding Program combines standard curricula (math, physics, history, etc.) with rigorous and exciting experiential learning — a hallmark of Project U.S.E.’s programs. The program culminates in the building and launching of full-sized wooden canoes or sailboats constructed by the students.
